Caregivers are the foundation of our care team.
Who hasn’t heard that “it takes a village” to raise a child? We would like to propose that, “it takes a team” to best care for an older adult with an illness or disability. The Bridgeway caregivers are such a crucial part of our care team because they are the heart and soul of what we do.
We understand that making the decision to bring someone into your loved one’s home to care for them can be challenging. That is why we take great care in properly screening, hiring, and training the most qualified candidates that embody our core values. All of our caregivers are bonded, insured, and covered by worker’s compensation. They receive ongoing support from our Caregiver Liasion and office staff to ensure that their needs are met.
Interview and Hiring Process
- Pre-hire qualification phone screen/interview
- Review of the applicant’s skills (CPR, First Aid, Healthcare experience, and more)
- Conduct a criminal background check, including fingerprinting, and MVA of driving
- In-person interview that consists of mock problem-solving scenarios
- Detailed references check
- Tuberculosis (TB) test and a flu shot are required prior to hiring
Once a qualified candidate has been invited to join the Bridgeway care team, they go through a thorough orientation that familiarizes them with our company culture, core values, and prepares them for being with our clients.

Andrea is an EMT who has been in the healthcare field for 16 years as a medical assistant. She also has served as an ER tech. She is excited to be part of the Bridgeway team because “I enjoy working with clients because I know I will get them to tell me a good story. I was very impressed with the services that Bridgeway offers and I enjoy working one-on-one with clients. In her spare time, Andrea enjoys spending time with her three daughters, going shopping, and traveling. She has been married for 10 happy years.

Annette is a CNA and a Certified Patient Care Technician. She is a dedicated worker and deeply passionate about helping others. In her free time, she enjoys singing and spending time with her wonderful granddaughter. “Work never ends for me, caring for seniors is my passion and I love what I do. Once I learned about the great teamwork Bridgeway had to offer I knew that it was the right place for me.”
Bethany is passionate about caring for others and has taken a number of college classes in pursuit of a nursing degree. She joins the Bridgeway team because she enjoys serving others on a day-to-day basis and providing comfort to those in need. In addition, she is hoping to continue with her studies in the medical field and looks forward to gaining more experience. Bethany is a single mom with a 7-year-old son, and when she’s not working, she enjoys stamp collecting, bike riding, working out, going to church, singing, and antiquing. In addition, she is skilled at working with computers and enjoys web design and video design.
Chivon has an extensive background in home care and medical assisting. She is a Certified Nurse Assistant with a specialization in phlebotomy and is also certified in billing and coding insurance. She is trained in CPR and First Aid and also has a clerical background in medical terminology, Microsoft Office, and customer service. In addition, she is currently studying for the HESI exam to become a nurse. Chivon has worked in the healthcare field for 13 years and decided to join the Bridgeway team because she is passionate about helping the elderly and Bridgeway’s team approach to care. When she’s not working, Chivon enjoys doing puzzles, shopping, and enhancing her skills with new technologies.
Christine has a Bachelor of Fine Arts and an Associate of Computer Drafting and Design. She brings to Bridgeway a compassionate and kind personality and is a great asset to the team because she loves helping others and being a caring companion. In Christine’s free time she loves listening to music, especially Jazz and R&B. She also enjoys singing, dancing, skating, drawing, and solving puzzles.
Deshawna is Certified Medical Assistant, having received her training at the Ross Medical Center. She has also received credentials as a Medical Assistant from Dorsey Business School and as a Nurse’s Assistant from Ross Medical. She joined Bridgeway because she heard they are one of the best homecare companies to work for. When outside of work, her favorite hobbies include ballroom dancing, spending time with her grandchildren and other family members, and enjoying nature.
Don was born in the city of Detroit. During his senior year of high school at Wilbur Wright Trade School, he worked as a co-op student for AAA of Michigan. He started out in the printing department then was drafted into the Army. He spent his service time after Basic Training in Germany, where he became a Specialist E5 and was in charge of protecting the Pershing Nuclear Missiles. After his Honorable Discharge, he went back to work for AAA of Michigan, where he became a Cartographer for some 28 years before the company restructured and closed his department. Don then worked at a Senior Living Community and fell in love with working and caring for seniors. “The joy and the feeling one gets, when you can put a smile on their face, or when you receive a hug and thank you for even the smallest thing, that’s what the Lord put us on this Earth to do,” he says.
Jacqueline has a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications from Wayne State University, and an extensive background in business and journalism. She is thrilled to be a part of the Bridgeway team and support seniors in the community. “I care about the elderly, how they feel, and what they need for extended comfort and happiness. In honor of my mother Margaret (1928-2014), it was an easy decision to join an organization that modeled these beliefs through great staffing and more.” Jacqueline is an accomplished writer and particularly enjoys writing poetry and song lyrics. She also loves reading short stories, vocal music, attending plays, movies, and museums, as well as bowling and bike riding.
Jacqueline has studied at Wayne County Community College in Belleville. She is a creative problem solver and quick learner who joined Bridgeway because she enjoys working with people. Some of her favorite things to do when she’s not working are exercising, shopping, cleaning, cooking, and meeting people.
Janice has over 20 years of experience caregiving for clients struggling with aging-related illnesses. She has also served as a friendly companion and is passionate about helping seniors. She looks forward to working with Bridgeway’s clients and becoming a part of the team. “The company stands out from others, particularly the staff—their kind personalities and communication with caregivers.” When she’s not working, Janice enjoys traveling and reading.

Jessica graduated from Lance Cruise Adult Education in 2007 and was certified as a CNA in 2010. She is currently enrolled at Macomb Community College and plans to enter the Nursing Program at St. Clair Community college in 2015. She has been working professionally in the home care industry for the past three years but has been providing care for others since 2004. She is trained in CPR, First Aid, Phlebotomy, EKG, and Blood Pathogens. Jessica is the mother of three beautiful children, and in her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, reading, exercising, and helping others in need. “I wasn’t always in the health care field, but once a family member became ill, I stepped in to take care of her. I didn’t expect to fall in love with taking care of others, but I did. Since then, I have been taking steps in my career and education to better myself and my experiences. Joining Bridgeway has been a positive step in the right direction for me and my family.”
Jordan has a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science with a minor in Health Science. She is an ACSM Certified Personal Trainer and Certified Water Safety Instructor. She is excited to join Bridgeway and work with clients on a personal level. In her spare time, Jordan enjoys living a healthy lifestyle and staying active, volunteering and working with people, hanging out with friends and family, and eating!
Kahania is a Certified Nursing Assistant with CPR and First Aid certifications and has plans to become a Licensed Practical Nurse. “I joined Bridgeway to become a part of this exciting team. With over 20 years of medical experience, I look forward to encouraging and supporting the individuals that I will be caring for, so that I can help them meet their goals and care needs.” In her free time, Kahania enjoys playing bingo, walking, and from time to time you can find her singing.
Karen has over 21 years’ experience as a medical assistant and caregiver. She has a passion for helping others and is glad she can bring this passion to the Bridgeway team. “I feel as if my heart has allowed for me to care for others that are in need. I wanted to [be a part of Bridgeway] to give personal care.”
Keshana has her Associates Degree in Child Development, is CPR certified, and is in the process of completing her CPI training for Crisis Prevention. She joined Bridgeway because she has a genuine passion and love for others. She has a great sense of humor and a “huge heart with love to give always!” Keshana loves watching movies, old cartoons like the Flintstones, reading, listening to music, cooking, and her ultimate favorite hobby is scrapbooking.
LaQuinda became a Certified Nursing Assistant in 2005 and has received a professional certification in Dementia and Alzheimer’s care. LaQuinda is a very caring person with a kind heart and is looking forward to putting her medical knowledge to great use and providing the best care for her clients. She prides herself for her great work ethic and is a wonderful asset to the Bridgeway team. In LaQuinda’s downtime, she loves spending time with her children and family. Together they enjoy going to the movies, watching television, and playing games.
Latrina studied to become a Home Health Care Aide at the Crockett Career and Technical Center, trained as a Direct Care Worker through the Macomb-Oakland Regional Center, and attended the Mary Lee Education to become a CENA. She enjoys being around people and wanted to work at Bridgeway because of their caring and dedicated staff. Outside of work, Latrina loves listening to music, doing puzzles, reading, and dancing.
Lisa is a highly motivated individual with over 20 years of healthcare experience. She recently graduated from the Stautzenberger Institute in Allen Park with a degree in Phlebotomy. Lisa joined Bridgeway because “I enjoy taking care of the elderly. It brings me joy knowing I’m able to help them in any way I can.”
Michael attended Mott Community College and is currently working towards a degree in Criminal Justice. He has years of great experience in the healthcare field, and his passion for helping others led him to work for Bridgeway. “I am a very outgoing and loving person, my greatest satisfaction is knowing that I am having a positive influence on someone’s life.” When Michael isn’t working, he enjoys being around his family and friends, reading books, shopping, and watching classic movies.
Michelle is a Certified Medical Assistant who has worked in various hospital and home care settings for over ten years. Her most recent experience was providing care as a medical assistant in the internal medicine setting. She joins the Bridgeway because of her dedication to care in both her professional and personal life. “I have a 14 year old autistic son, whose contribution to my life has inspired me to be an advocate for people of all physical or learning disabilities—he is who inspired me to go into caregiving as a career. I became a part of Bridgeway team because I want to be part of a company whose focus is on integrity as a company and in the culture that is created as a result. Also, I want to be a contribution to my community by providing excellent care to all people in all stages of their journey of health, wellness, and rehabilitation.” In her spare time, Michelle enjoys traveling and photography.
Miya graduated from the Detroit International Academy for Young Women and received certification as a Patient Care Technician from the Everest Academy. She is excited to be part of the Bridgeway team because “The environment fits me, and helps in what I want to do. It’s loving and I am passionate about what they do. I get to use my skills in many ways, and simply, I love it.” In her spare time, Miya loves to swim and sings a little. She is passionate about being part of a team aiming towards a common goal, and one of the most memorable examples of this in her life was when she was part of her high school’s swim team. “I remember when my swim team and I won the championship for the first time; that was one of my favorite memories. I will never forget being part of something that is bigger than me.”
Nichole is passionate about helping others and making a difference in the world. She is excited to join the Bridgeway team because “I love working with people and helping them.” She has taken a number of college-level courses in the fields of social work and mental health. When she’s not at work, Nichole enjoys bowling, dinner parties with friends, and taking walks in nature.
Robynne is a Certified Nursing Assistant and a graduate of Career Advance Healthcare Studies Institute. She also has CPR and First Aide certifications. Her values of compassion, understanding, and her ability to maintain a supportive and flexible mindset allows for the peace of mind amongst Bridgeway’s clients. Robynne enjoys bowling, shopping, traveling, and being a helpful, active member of her church community.
Roseline is a second year nursing student and a certified nursing assistant. She’s trained in providing assistance with activities of daily living for the elderly and disabled. She looks forward to working with Bridgeway’s staff and clients, as well as continuing to follow her passion for care and companionship. When she’s not working, Roseline enjoys reading, watching movies, and being of service to those in need.
Shalonda has a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with training as an enhanced nurse aide and in hospice care. She is excited to join Bridgeway because “I love to help, the family atmosphere, and the opportunity to grow.” In her spare time, Shalonda enjoys crafting, particularly scrapbooking and jewelry making.
Sonia graduated from Highland High School and has served as a caregiver for the past 15 years. She loves helping those in need and has heard many good things about working with Bridgeway. When she’s not working, Sonia likes going to the movies, going out to eat, and getting together with old friends.
Takisha is trained as a Direct Care Worker and is currently attending Oakland Community College to gain a degree in health care administration. She looks forward to working on the Bridgeway team because “The staff is great. Very welcoming and they care about everyone’s individual needs.” In her spare time, Takisha likes to have fun helping others in any way she can.
Taylor is currently in nursing school in Miami, Florida, and has wanted to be a nurse since she was 5 years old. She has previous experience as a nursing assistant at Beaumont Hospital – Royal Oak, and joins the Bridgeway team because “I wanted to gain more one-on-one experience with patients. Bridgeway was the place for me.” In her spare time, Taylor likes watching baseball and spending time outdoors. She especially enjoys running. One day, she hopes to be a surgical nurse.
Tena attended Wayne County Community College District and has experience being a nursing assistant, unit clerk, private caregiver, home health aide, restaurant manager, and a cosmetologist. Tena has years of experience in the medical field and “plans on being a great asset to the company by embodying Bridgeway’s ideals and high standards of home care.” When she is not working Tena enjoys reading, looking for hidden treasures at flea markets, and meditating.
Tiffany has a Master’s degree in Education. She also brings many years of hands-on patient care experience to the Bridgeway team. Tiffany is excited to join Bridgeway’s staff because her passion is working with people, and she has heard many good things about the care Bridgeway’s staff provides. When she’s not at work, Tiffany loves music in all its forms.
Tynisha has over ten years of experience with both TBI rehabilitation and senior caregiving. Tynisha decided to join Bridgeway because of the positive work environment she heard about from another employee as well as her passion for helping people. When she isn’t working, she spends her free time reading books, babysitting, watching movies, and listening to music.
